In celebration of winter Solstice, I went out for a walk in the woods in the dark. The weather has been pretty nasty here today, super windy, and then it started snowing just before dark. But it was a lovely walk. I love the sound of the wind in the trees. The bonus of walking in nasty weather is that you almost never encounter anyone else on the trails. It was dark and all the sounds of town and traffic were blocked out and it was just me and Radar and the woods. I let Radar pick the path for the most part, and we had a wonderful long stroll all alone with the elements. It was beautiful. I'm looking forward to watching the shift in the days now as we head back toward longer days.
I say embrace the dark, enjoy the solitude it brings and take the opportunity to do whatever feels restorative and restful to you.
