Yoga, Meditation, and Qi-Gong Teacher: Stephanie Nosco
I first met Stephanie in my second year of university at Mount Royal. A friend and I decided we wanted to try out yoga, so we signed up for the intro week, and did a couple of classes. The most memorable one was Sunday night Yin class, taught by Stephanie. We loved it so much that we bought a few more passes on our tiny student budgets, and went every Sunday night for a little while.
A little while later another friend of mine asked if I'd like to take over her karma position at that studio and do the graphic design and marketing work while she went to Australia for a semester abroad. I jumped at the opportunity, and so started working at the studio, which meant all the free yoga I wanted. Those first few weeks of yin had hooked me, to this day Yin is still my favourite yoga practice, and Stephanie is still my favourite teacher. Stephanie and I connected pretty quickly once we started chatting outside of classes, and we've been friends ever since. Stephanie is perhaps the most influential teacher in my journey of meditation.
Over the years I've had the opportunity to do a yoga photo shoot with Stephanie every couple of years. I've also attended two of her meditation retreats at the beautiful Quantum Leaps Lodge near Golden, British Columbia.
Stephanie has been teaching yoga and meditation for over 10 years! More recently she has also started teaching Qi-Gong. Wikipedia states that "Qi-Gong (literally: "Life Energy Cultivation") is a holistic system of coordinated body posture and movement, breathing, and meditation used for the purposes of health, spirituality, and martial arts training."
Recently Stephanie and I were able to connect again and get a few beautiful fall photos done in between our non-stop chatter of catching up. Here are a few of my favourite photos from our beautiful afternoon together.
If you'd like to try one of Stephanie's classes or attend one of her meditation retreats (I highly recommend both, but the retreats have especially been life-changing experiences for me. Worth every penny!) you can find her schedule and more information on her website, facebook, and instagram.
